About Us

Bingo Procurement Services (BPS) is a Lilongwe-based business dedicated to procurement, sourcing and supply chain solutions for organisations in Malawi and across its borders.

Company overview

BPS was founded and established as a vehicle for advancing procurement services and providing seamless solutions to the supply chain industry, predominantly in the procurement field, for companies and organisations in Malawi and beyond.

We see ourselves as a solution to the many problems organisations face when procuring products and managing projects. Our work centres on local and offshore procurement for a range of clients, and on project procurement for organisations that want to separate supporting activities from their main business and concentrate on core functions.

Background and purpose

Organisations often pay more than they should because suppliers adjust prices according to what they believe a buyer can afford. Weak background checks can expose organisations to unreliable or dishonest suppliers, and close relationships between internal buyers and suppliers can undermine fair purchasing.

BPS enters the market as an independent source. We compare prices across suppliers, check the suppliers we work with, and give clients an outsourced alternative where a donor or programme requires dedicated procurement capacity.

Mission

BPS is geared to establish a collaborative approach to value creation for sourcing and procurement processes. We aim towards achieving customer-focused services, innovative suppliers and streamlined business processes while maintaining internal compliance and integrity.

Vision

To become a world-class procurement organisation by creating value through a strategic approach, efficient processes, technology integration and excellent customer service.

Values

BPS strives to be an ethical role model for organisations by demonstrating the strict values essential for building a top-class procurement operation.

Core values

  • Inclusiveness and diversity

Engaging both local and international suppliers, so clients benefit from a wider and fairer supplier base.

  • Integrity

Ethical conduct in every sourcing decision, and independence from the suppliers we evaluate.

  • Transparency

Clear comparisons, clear quotations and clear terms, so clients can see how decisions are reached.

Our procurement philosophy

Good procurement is about value, not just price. We compare offers from several suppliers so clients can judge value for money, and we act as an independent source so purchasing decisions are not shaped by internal relationships with suppliers.

We also believe procurement should be accountable. After each project or service, BPS provides a report and evaluation so clients can see what outsourcing their procurement achieved.

Local and international sourcing

Locally, we work with hardware suppliers, stationery suppliers, shipping lines and shipping agents to compare prices and secure supply.

Internationally, we draw on a network of suppliers from several countries, including sourcing partners in China and South Africa. Supplier background checks help reduce the risk of dealing with unreliable or unscrupulous operators.

Pricing reflects each requirement, budget and transaction, and the Malawi Kwacha exchange rate at the time of purchase.

Ownership and leadership experience

Bingo Procurement Services is a sole proprietorship owned by Kingsley S. Mponda, who also serves as Managing Director. He is a supply chain specialist with more than 23 years of experience in logistics, sales and procurement, gained working for a number of agriculture-oriented companies.

Since opening for business, BPS has been supported by experienced professionals in procurement and logistics. The business is open to partnerships with other investors in future.
